The Grand Marquesa Ballroom

Stunning Event Venues in Washington, DC(Part 1)

One of the first and most exciting decisions in planning any event is choosing the venue. The setting truly sets the tone — from the architecture and interiors to the surrounding neighborhood and overall atmosphere. It’s the place where your vision begins to take shape and where guests will experience the celebration from the moment they arrive.

The Washington, DC area is filled with incredible venues, each offering something different. Some spaces highlight historic architecture and timeless elegance, while others showcase modern design, beautiful gardens, or unique artistic environments.

For this post, I’m sharing five venues in the Washington, DC area that stand out for their character, location, and versatility. These venues are listed in no particular order and represent a range of styles, scenery, and investment levels, making them great options for weddings, social celebrations, and corporate gatherings alike.

Whether you’re drawn to historic mansions, waterfront hotels, garden settings, or museum spaces, the DC area truly has something for everyone. Let’s get into the venues, shall we?

Bellevue Conference & Events Center

Chantilly, Virginia

I may be a little biased when I say this, but Bellevue Conference & Events Center is easily one of the most stunning modern event venues in the Washington, DC area… and I say that with confidence because it’s where I got married myself.

For anyone looking for something a little different from the traditional ballroom, Bellevue offers a space that feels modern, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. From the moment you walk in, the architecture stands out. The clean lines, soaring ceilings, and expansive windows give the venue an open, airy feel, while natural light pours into the rooms throughout the day.

One of the things that makes Bellevue especially appealing is that it offers several distinct event spaces, each with its own character and atmosphere.

The Milan Room is a beautiful blend of contemporary and traditional design. With its high ceilings and delicate chandeliers, it creates a refined yet intimate setting that works wonderfully for smaller weddings, celebrations, or private events.

Then there’s the Bolour Room, which leans into modern sophistication. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, making the entire room feel bright and expansive. It’s the kind of space that feels elegant during the day and effortlessly transforms into a dramatic evening reception once the lighting and décor are set.

The Bolour Room with floor to ceiling windows

The showstopper, however, is the Grand Marquesa Room. This space brings a touch of Mediterranean influence with its arched windows, Corinthian limestone columns, and grand crystal chandeliers that shimmer throughout the room. It truly is a sight to behold. And if that’s not impressive enough, imagine making a grand entrance — or a dramatic exit — down the sweeping staircase that leads to a private suite upstairs.

And just when you think the venue has shown you everything, there’s the Sky Lounge. This rooftop space offers breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and provides a beautiful setting for cocktail hours, sunset moments, or simply giving guests a place to step outside and take in the scenery.

Located in Chantilly, Bellevue is also conveniently accessible for guests traveling from Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland, making it a wonderful option for events that bring people together from across the region.

Perfect for: weddings, social celebrations, and corporate gatherings.

If modern elegance is one side of the DC event scene, historic architecture is the other — and few venues capture that sense of timeless grandeur quite like Anderson House.

Anderson House

Washington, DC

If you’re drawn to historic architecture and timeless elegance, Anderson House is one of Washington’s most breathtaking venues. A neoclassical mansion completed in 1905, is now a national historical landmark. It features lavish, eclectic interiors designed for high-society entertaining, blending European and Asian influences with carved wood walls, gilded papier-mâché ceilings and a great stair hall.

Located along Embassy Row, this historic mansion feels like stepping into another era. The grand marble staircase, intricate ceilings, and richly detailed interiors create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and historic.

Every room inside Anderson House tells a story. From ornate fireplaces to beautifully preserved architectural details, the venue offers a level of character that simply can’t be replicated in modern spaces.

What makes this venue especially magical for events is how the historic architecture becomes part of the design. Floral installations, candlelight, and elegant tablescapes feel perfectly at home in the space, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and unforgettable. Bridgerton….. anyone?

Perfect for: elegant weddings, intimate celebrations, and refined corporate events.

From historic mansions along Embassy Row, we move to one of DC’s most vibrant waterfront destinations.

InterContinental Washington DC – The Wharf

Washington, DC

For those who love modern luxury and waterfront views, the InterContinental at The Wharf offers one of the most beautiful hotel venues in the city.

Located along the vibrant Wharf waterfront district, the hotel combines sleek contemporary interiors with stunning views of the Potomac River. The event spaces feel polished and upscale, with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in natural light and highlight the waterfront setting. A favorite with event planners simply because of how many if its event rooms sit above ground level, which is unusual in D.C.

Guests can easily step outside to explore the Wharf’s restaurants, marina views, and lively atmosphere, making the entire event experience feel dynamic and connected to the city.

The hotel’s refined ballrooms and terraces provide a beautiful canvas for everything from glamorous wedding receptions to corporate galas and executive events.

Perfect for: luxury weddings, corporate events, and waterfront celebrations.

From beautiful waterfront destinations, we now head to another historic hotel in the nations district but this time for its garden views.

Omni Shoreham Hotel

Washington, DC

Few venues in Washington offer the kind of garden setting that the Omni Shoreham provides.

Nestled in the Woodley Park neighborhood, the historic hotel sits on beautifully landscaped grounds that feel like a peaceful retreat within the city. The gardens are lush, expansive, and full of greenery, creating a setting that feels both romantic and serene.

Outdoor ceremonies and receptions here feel especially magical, with towering trees, manicured lawns, and elegant pathways surrounding the space. It’s easy to forget you’re still in the middle of Washington, DC.

Inside, the hotel also offers classic ballrooms and refined interiors, giving couples and planners the flexibility to combine indoor elegance with outdoor beauty.

Perfect for: garden weddings, outdoor celebrations, and elegant receptions.

Now to our fifth and final venue for part 1 is the first museum in the world solely dedicated to championing women through the arts.

National Museum of Women in the Arts

Washington, DC

For those looking for a venue that feels artistic and inspiring, the National Museum of Women in the Arts offers a setting unlike any other.

Located in a beautifully restored historic building in downtown Washington, the museum combines stunning architecture with an atmosphere that celebrates creativity and culture.

The interiors are striking — from the grand staircase to the beautifully designed galleries. Events held here are surrounded by powerful artwork created by women artists, adding a unique layer of meaning and inspiration to the experience.

The museum’s elegant spaces allow guests to move through galleries while enjoying the celebration, creating an experience that feels immersive and memorable.

It’s the kind of venue that naturally sparks conversation and leaves a lasting impression.

Perfect for: cultural events, sophisticated weddings, and distinctive corporate gatherings.

The Washington, DC area truly offers an incredible variety of venues, each with its own character and atmosphere. Whether you’re drawn to historic architecture, modern waterfront spaces, beautiful gardens, or artistic environments, the right venue can completely shape the experience of your event.

These are just a few of the venues we love working with throughout the DC area.
